Light Gray & Off White Coloured Ikat Weave Skirt

Ikat is a resist dye technique used to pattern textiles, where threads are tied off with fibre knots that resist absorbing colour and are then dyed. After dyeing of threads is completed, all resists (knots) are opened, and the patterned yarns are woven on the handloom. This painstaking process of tying knots, dyeing and then weaving has been termed as ‘Poetry of the Loom’. This skirt in traditional Ikat weave has been designed and created especially for Ranakah. The deep mustard ochre is brought alive with a pattern in a creamish yellow weave, while the edging of deep red on the hem highlights the design. The yoke around the waist is in free size, streamlines the fit and has a  drawstring edged with colourful tassels handmade from wool. The body of the skirt is constructed in tapering panels which give a sleek silhouette to a regular figure. From the cut to the styling and the decorative touches all are specially created for Ranakah and are unique to the label.  Please do note that this is a one and the only piece in this colour and Ikat weave in this collection of Ranakah.

Each Skirt has been designed as a single piece only for Ranakah. There is no guarantee of the weave pattern and colour being repeated. A similar cut and style can be made in another colour and pattern of Ikat. However, it may take some time. You can always connect with us on to communicate with Ranakah team on the availability and possibility for the design. We shall do whatever we can to create a happy you!

The jewellery on the body form is not a part of the skirt price. It is, however, a Ranakah piece of jewellery and can be bought separately from the skirt. Do please visit the Ranakah jewellery section for more designs.

The skirt is made from handloom fabric. Since this fabric is woven on the looms by the artisans with their bare hands hence there is a possibility of slubs and patches of a rough weave. However, these imperfections only add to the charm of this handcrafted fabric.
