The Heavenly Blues – Hand Block Printed Skirt Set

Hand block printing is a laborious process which requires immense patience. The fabric is first washed in a flowing river to reduce water consumption. It is then sundried and dyed, laid out flat on a table and pinned firmly to the table. Four to five natural colours made from organic substances are then mixed together to form myriad colours. Once the colours are mixed in the desired hues the carved block is dipped into them and then stamped firmly by hand on the fabric to form intricate designs. Finally, the fabric is again dipped into the flowing river and hung out to dry in the sun to attain luminosity of colours. This set of a skirt and dupatta or stole from Ranakah is a sure winner. The base of unusual deep blue is handprinted with red and black large tree motifs and small floral intricate patterns. The panels alternate in large tree motifs and small florals to create a symphony of design unique to Ranakah. The cut is flowing and tapered and the yoke at the waist gives a close and comfortable fit to the body. The skirt hem is trimmed with a dash of deep red which offsets the print.  The skirt and the dupatta are embellished with colourful woollen tassels made especially for Ranakah and add just the right sensual flourish to the outfit. The skirt and the stole can be mixed and matched with long tunics, crop tops or even a blouse to create your own fashion statement. Please do note that this is a one and only piece in this print in this collection of Ranakah. There is no other piece in this print and colour in Ranakah collection at the moment.
