Tribal Dholki Choker in Black Thread Kanthis

India has a rich history of metallurgy and intricate workmanship. This choker is crafted in the tradition of the royalty of tribes and is still worn by women in the interior regions of India. The centrepiece is a magnificent pendant in the shape of a dholki which in the ancient times also had a chamber inside in which women could paper money or even personal notes. One end could be pulled open and you had a snug little chamber for women to keep their personal stuff away from prying eyes. The centre pendant is edged at both ends with beads trim and an elegant chain. The choker is formed of black thread kanthis with miniature dholkis strung in them. The effect of the neckpiece is at once stunning and appealing. The look is opulent and statement. The thread strings have a pull back bead in them which enables the wearer to adjust the length to suit the size of the base of the neck.
